Blocking PopUp Messenger Messages
Many of us have been hounded by the IP ad or IP Messenger ad when online. Many popup messengers announce everything from viagra to car loans with sickening impunity. You can easily shut them off - if only you know how. Your Windows 2000 or Windows XP operating system allows anyone with the right software to send any message to you by default. But you can turn off the offending messages like this:

Go to Start -> Settings - > Control Panel -> Administrative Tools -> Services ->

Scroll down and find the "Messenger" on the left side of the panel.

Right Click and select the Properties tag.

Select the Startup type and click Disable.

Close. You will find that all those annoying messages vanish with this simple setup.
